Julie graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Physiotherapy, with Distinction.

She is the mother of two (very active) primary school-aged children and her interest in working with the upper limb evolved from personal experiences, including having de Quervains tenosynovitis as a new mother, a family history of Dupuytren’s contracture and her son fracturing his elbow in the playground.

Julie has an extensive sporting background, having competed in, and coached several sports including gymnastics, swimming, and netball, playing State League at Championship level in her younger years. Her keen interest in sports and exercise led her to train as a Physical Education teacher and undertake a Master’s in Human Movement by Research. Following this, her passion for health and well-being motivated her to become a physiotherapist, so she could make a real difference in the lives of people impacted by upper limb injuries, through evidence-based, patient-focused care.

When she is not working, Julie enjoys spending time with family, walking her dog, and keeping fit through weight training, cycling, running, and swimming.
