Scaphoid Fractures

Wrist and Forearm

Symptoms

Most people experience pain or swelling around the base of the thumb and into the wrist.

In many cases, there are no visible deformities. People often dismiss the problem as a sprain and don’t seek proper medical attention and advice until the discomfort gets too much.

How it occurs

The scaphoid is the most commonly fractured carpal bone The majority of Scaphoid Fractures we look after have occurred after the patient has fallen on an outstretched hand.

Treatment

Action Rehab can assess, advise, and treat fractured Scaphoids and seek an educated opinion when required. Our hand therapists can read X-rays and CT scans and evaluate medical imagery.

Due to its location, blood supply, and possible damage to blood vessels, the healing process can be slow, sometimes taking months.
